Man and dog seen in Haringey Click to help

What's Happened

A local man has been walking his dangerous dog around the streets of Haringey both during the day and at night.

At least two cats have been mauled to death so far right outside their homes.

Both cat owners only realised something was going on when they checked their Ring cameras.

The dog owner did not have the courtesy or the respect to inform the pet owners when he saw, right in front of his face, the dog tearing the cats to shreds.

Both incidents have been raised with local police, but without continued pressure from concerned Haringey residents, we don't think they will get to the bottom of things.

We don't want another cat to be brutally murdered.

We don't want a child to get hurt.

We believe the dog owner knows that his dog is dangerous and is causing death but simply doesn't care. If he did then he would at least keep it on a leash (which he doesn't do).

We need your help to stop the Haringey Cat Killer.

Last month, an off-lead dog entered the front yard of our next door neighbours where our cat was relaxing as she usually does and mauled her to death.

The owner made very little effort to stop the dog attack and even proceeded to return with the dog the next day to let it roam the front yard again.

Intended to post this last month but have been busy with the police who unfortunately are unable to do anything about the attack as the man is unidentifiable.

Our family is devastated about the loss of our sweet Tiddles who we have had for over 13 years.

I feel I would be doing a disservice to the community by not sharing this as next time it might not be a cat, but a young child.

Another cat has been killed by what appears to be the same dog, this time on Saturday in Walpole Road.

The owner has extremely clear footage of the moment of the attack, which means the person should be easily identifiable, which they gave to someone I know on WA and have asked to be circulated as widely as possible.

Naturally they are extremely distressed and want the dog stopped before it kills again.

How You Can Help
Right Now

The most important way you can help is by raising the issue with the Safer Neighborhoods Team from the Met Police.

In Haringey we have 8 officers/PCSO's and we NEED to pressure them so that they:

  • At least keep this matter on their radar
  • Do spend the time and effort on these cases that they deserve
  • Ensure the risk to other animals or children is minimised

So here is what we need you to do:

  1. Write an email to the following email address (it's the Haringey Safer Neighborhoods Team) [email protected]
  2. Use the following subject line (it's important we pressure the same Police Inspector) FAO: Asad Ikram - Stopping the Haringey Cat Killer
  3. Copy and paste this email message or edit how you see fit (it's the best we could do) I am writing to express serious concern regarding a dangerous dog and its owner, following two separate fatal attacks on local cats. The first incident occurred on Effingham Road in February, when the dog mauled a cat to death [Attachment A]. I understand that police spoke to the owner at that time, but no further action was taken. This weekend, a second cat was killed in another attack on Walpole Road [Attachment B]. It is deeply distressing that, despite the earlier incident, another family pet has now been killed. There is substantial concern within the community regarding the owner's repeated behaviour. Ring doorbell footage has captured the owner on numerous occasions walking this clearly dangerous dog off lead and without a muzzle in the early hours of the morning. The dog has also been seen wandering into residents' front gardens and private property, apparently searching for cats [Attachment C]. This is completely unacceptable. Residents should not have to live in fear that their beloved pets are at risk of being violently attacked and killed because of one owner's reckless and irresponsible behaviour. The owner's persistent failure to properly control or contain this dog raises serious questions. At best, this appears to be gross negligence. At worst, the repeated pattern of behaviour—allowing a known dangerous dog to roam freely where cats are present—suggests something more sinister than simple carelessness. There is also concern about the lack of communication with affected pet owners and the wider community. Without Ring doorbell footage and neighbours sharing information, these incidents may not have come to light at all. This raises an alarming question: how many other attacks may have occurred without evidence or witnesses? I urge the Harringay Safer Neighbourhoods Team to treat this matter with the seriousness it deserves and to take immediate action to protect local residents and their pets. This should include investigating the owner's conduct, assessing whether the dog poses a danger under relevant legislation, and considering enforcement measures to prevent further attacks. Two cats have already been killed. Action must be taken before another animal—or potentially EVEN A CHILD—is harmed. I respectfully request an urgent response outlining what steps will now be taken. Yours faithfully,
  4. Check your email for confirmation from Met Engage and follow the steps in their email (if you do not follow the steps in the email you receive from Met Engage, the case will not be allocated to an officer and will be ignored)
